While developer Pocketpair are still fighting off Nintendo, they’ve pushed out a huge upgrade for Palworld to bring it out of Early Access for the 1.0.
There’s plenty of new Pals to catch as well – 72 were added with this update (47 new Pals and 25 variant Pals) bringing the total to 287. There’s multiple new ways to power up your Pals too with Awakening and Mutation features:
- We’ve added a new mechanic, Awakening, that lets you strengthen your Pals even further. In the newly opened mystical area, the World Tree, gather Radiant Gems hidden in its depths and use them on your favorite Pals to awaken their hidden true power. Aim for even greater heights, make your Pals the strongest!
We’ve added Mutation, a new mechanic where breeding has a low chance of producing a Pal stronger than the normal breeding result. Pals born from mutated eggs have higher stats and a unique passive skill.
We’ve also added new cakes with special effects:
- Mushroom Cake: Slightly increases the likelihood that newly born Pals will have higher stats.
- Vegetable Cake: Produces two Pal Eggs at once.
- Deluxe Vegetable Cake: Increases the likelihood of mutations and makes stat growth more likely.
- Special Cake: Increases the chance of inheriting multiple passive skills from Pal parents.
Mutations will make Pal breeding more involved and exciting for players who want to raise the ultimate Pal!
Pals should seem a bit more alive with this update too with many new “motions” including swimming, sleeping next to you, idle animations and more. Pocketpair also said they#ve added a bunch of unique animations to the new pals. On top of that Pals now have “more distinct personalities and display a wider range of behaviors during your adventures and life at the base”.
There’s tons more including a revamped story with new sub-missions and NPCs, new armours, new accessories, new building parts, much improved multiplayer, various improvements to the graphics and so much extra. The world was revamped to include ancient ruins, new small islands, watchtowers, new settlements, The World Tree and so on.
You get the idea – it’s huge, the changelog is massive. See the trailer below:
Going by some of my own testing running through it with the 1.0 release – the game continues to run nicely with the newly released Proton 11 on Desktop Linux (Fedora KDE 44).
