Bandwagon is a bullet heaven survivors-lite (that’s a new one?) that takes the genre in a fun new direction with music and you restoring joy to the world. It was previously going by the names of Band Together and Making Friends but now they’ve settled on Bandwagon.
Not every game in a genre needs to be about killing monsters right? Here it’s an open world experience too with you and your little friends running around jamming to some tunes. I sure do love indie games.
From the developers behind the excellent Dome Keeper and the upcoming PVKK: Planetenverteidigungskanonenkommandant, this went right onto my wishlist. You can check out the brand new trailer below:
From the Steam page:
Band Together & Jam Out
Recruit from a growing roster of cute animals, each with their own instruments, personalities, and musical combat styles. Every note your band plays doubles as an attack against the grumpiness. Each run you’ll build unique, procedurally generated music based on the bandmates and upgrades you choose.
New Day, New Objective
Each bite-sized day is a new chance to complete quests, explore different regions, and set off with fresh objectives. Every run provides items to build out your island and unlock new powers so nothing you do is ever wasted. Will you use today to gather materials, save a squirrel from a cult, or befriend a giant snoring pig?
Land of the Grumps
Wander through dark forests, flowery hills, and mysterious villages, all rendered in a warm, comic-book art style. Unlock hidden passages, clear regional bosses, and recruit more musically-inclined friends as you make your way toward the concert that could finally cheer up the King.
All Aboard the Bandwagon
What is a quest without a base camp?! You’ll be using this space at the start of each day to upgrade your skills, unlock new abilities, build out friendships, and more. As musicians move in and settle down, watch your camp grow from a quiet clearing into a bustling home.
