DayZ Badlands gets a fresh teaser and it's set to launch in October

Bohemia Interactive say DayZ Badlands is the largest expansion so far for the popular open-world zombie survival game. Coming out of the recent Convergence Showcase with some fresh details – we now know it will launch sometime in October and they’ve graced us with a fresh teaser video too.

It’s playable on SteamOS / Linux thanks to the developer enabling the anti-cheat where many others don’t.

In the latest developer blog post they also revealed a big feature in Badlands with rebuilding. This will allow players to restore ruined houses across Nasdara, and transform abandoned settlements into fortified homes. They said there will be more than 5,000 of these structures you can spruce up spread across the map.

On top of that they’re also finally adding in the Code Lock, a new security system to protect your bases. It has upkeep on it though – requiring a charged V9 battery to remain operational, if it dies your base is opened up.

Sounds like it’s becoming a bit more like Rust with this expansion.

The announcement comes alongside the release of the DayZ 1.29 “Road to Badlands” update that is now available on all platforms. The 1.29 update brings the SCR-17 Battle Rifle (with additional Black variant for Sakhal), new optics, brass knuckles, military clothing, desert camouflage equipment, Nasdara military convoys appearing in Chernarus and Livonia with additional infected variants, and more!

Release Date: 📅 31st December 2018
