Hooded Horse picked another good one to publish here from developer Lantto Games. Sandustry is a factory automation game where every pixel is a resource. Note: this was a personal purchase.
If you’ve played Noita before, think of the pixel system a lot like that – every single little bit can be messed with. Then add Factorio into the mixture and you’ve kind-of got Sandustry
More about it: “Stationed on an unexplored world brimming with diverse biomes and rolling landscapes, players must light the spark of industry in a bid to establish a viable outpost and uncover the mysteries buried beneath the surface. Here, every pixel is a simulated resource that can be utilized, fueling a rapidly expanding web of processes to overcome increasingly complex logistical hurdles”.
See the launch trailer below
As it has only just arrived and it’s in Early Access so it’s unfinished and we had no pre-release access, some thoughts will come at a later date when I’ve had time to properly dive into it. For now, I can tell you the Native Linux version does run out of the box on my Fedora KDE 44 install. However, it’s using some web-based tech and the Steam Overlay doesn’t seem to work with it – annoying.
Judging by the options I can see, I’m quite pleased on the accessibility side because not only does it have UI scaling but it has a dedicated zoom option too. My eyes thank you, Lantto Games, this is how it’s done!
From the short time I’ve spent in it today, I can already see this completely taking over my life. What a wonderful idea for a game, and the short tutorial really gets you going quickly to learn the ropes while also being quite fun too so it doesn’t get in the way. It’s very much a game of experimentation with you figuring out what works best as you go and unlock more technology to expand your factory.

Sandustry is another game where you click play, blink and suddenly it’s an hour later.
Check it out, I think you’re going to love it.
