Another constantly updated game that broke with newer Proton recently is Marvel Rivals, but now thanks to Valve it should work again with Proton Hotfix. A similar thing happened recently with Diablo IV which Valve needed to fix too.
Valve don’t generally give out public updates on Proton Hotfix, but we can see that Marvel Rivals has now been set to it by default (SteamDB). Thanks to Valve’s tweaks, it should load up just fine again as of the latest major update to Marvel Rivals with Season 9.

If you set any manual Proton on Marvel Hotfix or any launch options – you can just remove them now and it will pick up Proton Hotfix by default. If you don’t have Proton Hotfix – it will download automatically for any games that need it.
Hopefully one day we won’t have to wait for Valve to repeatedly fix up these types of live service games – eventually I imagine Proton will get to a stage where it covers everything weird developers do that breaks things. Or, the Linux user share on Steam gets to a point where developers actually testβ¦
